Job Description
A professional facilities services company is seeking a highly experienced Commissioning Agent to support commissioning projects across multiple U.S. Air Force installations. This is a six-month contract with the potential to extend based on ongoing project needs.
This is a field-based, travel-intensive role supporting projects with approximately 180-day periods of performance. The selected candidate must be prepared to travel between military installations, with anticipated project locations including Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, California, and Alaska. Travel expenses, including hotels and flights, will be covered.
The ideal candidate will be able to operate independently from day one with minimal oversight. This person will lead field inspections, execute functional performance testing, troubleshoot building systems, document deficiencies, and communicate findings to project leadership, facility personnel, engineers, contractors, and controls providers. The work will focus heavily on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation/control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform commissioning and retro-commissioning activities at U.S. Air Force installations and other assigned facilities. Conduct daily field inspections and functional performance testing of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, life-safety, and building automation/control systems. Evaluate existing HVAC and BAS/DDC system operation through field investigation, trend review, and functional testing. Review sequences of operation, control points, setpoints, schedules, alarms, sensors, actuators, and control loops. Identify installation, operational, and controls-related deficiencies that may affect system performance, reliability, or energy efficiency. Troubleshoot building system issues and coordinate or verify corrective actions. Review construction documents, equipment information, controls documentation, submittals, specifications, and sequences of operation. Develop and execute installation verification checklists and functional performance test procedures. Maintain issue logs and track identified deficiencies through resolution. Prepare clear daily reports, field reports, commissioning documentation, and final project reports. Coordinate with facility representatives, owners, engineers, contractors, controls providers, and project leadership. Participate in project coordination meetings and provide regular updates regarding testing progress, deficiencies, and schedule impacts. Support owner and operator training, project closeout, and turnover activities when required. Manage daily priorities independently while maintaining consistent communication with project leadership. Follow all project-specific safety, security, and military installation access requirements. Support occasional evening, weekend, or off-hours testing when required by the project schedule.
