Summary We are seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to serve as a Substitute Bus Driver at the Greenon Transportation Garage. As a substitute, you will step in as needed to ensure that all scheduled routes are covered, demonstrating a commitment to safety, punctuality, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Operate school buses and other designated vehicles safely and efficiently according to established routes and schedules.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers during transport, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe working condition.
- Assist students and passengers as needed, including helping them board and disembark safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior and exterior.
- Communicate effectively with school officials, parents, and other staff regarding transportation needs and issues.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the transportation supervisor promptly.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on policies and procedures.
- Flexibly respond to last-minute scheduling changes and fill in for regular drivers as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a school bus.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Previous experience driving a bus or working in a transportation role is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by state and federal regulations.
