Substitute Custodian

Summary We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to join our team as a Substitute Custodian at Greenon High School. This position is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Substitute Custodian will fill in for regular custodial staff as needed, ensuring that all cleaning and maintenance duties are performed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Assist in the setup and breakdown of facilities for school events, meetings, and activities.
• Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of custodial closets and storage areas.
• Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow established safety protocols and procedures while performing custodial duties.
• Support the school’s health and safety initiatives by ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members to foster a positive school environment.
• Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the school, adapting to changing schedules and priorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and their safe usage is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Must be able to pass a background check and comply with school district policies.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
