Mechanical Estimator

- Pay: $90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience
About the company An established, growing mechanical contractor focused on commercial HVAC and mechanical construction.
MUST HAVES
- 5+ years of recent mechanical estimating experience, in the US (Arizona preferred)
- Commercial mechanical construction background
- Estimating HVAC, piping and/or plumbing systems
- Detailed material, equipment and labor takeoffs
- Bluebeam and Excel (FastEST strongly preferred)
The role You'll build accurate, competitive estimates for commercial mechanical projects, including HVAC, piping and plumbing. You'll work from drawings and specs through bid day and hand awarded jobs to operations. What you'll do
- Review plans, specs, bid documents and addenda
- Do material, equipment and labor takeoffs
- Get and compare vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Spot scope gaps, exclusions and project risks
- Put together bid summaries and estimate breakdowns
- Help with value engineering and alternate systems
- Track bid results and use past job costs to sharpen estimates
- Hand awarded projects over to operations
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of recent Mechanical Estimating experience
- Commercial mechanical construction experience required
- Experience estimating HVAC, piping, plumbing, and/or related mechanical systems
- Estimating experience must be within the United States; Arizona experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Ability to perform detailed material, equipment, and labor takeoffs
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction methods, materials, equipment, and installation requirements
- Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Bluebeam
- FastEST estimating software experience strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record required
- No DUI/DWI convictions within the previous 7 years
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
