Work must be performed in accordance with company policies, client requirements, site rules, and applicable transportation and safety requirements.

- Transport approved materials between designated loading, delivery, disposal, storage, and staging locations according to dispatch instructions and customer requirements.
- Plan and follow safe routes while considering road restrictions, weight limits, bridge clearances, weather, traffic, construction zones, and changing field conditions.
- Operate defensively and adjust speed, following distance, and vehicle position for load conditions, grades, curves, soft shoulders, dust, mud, reduced visibility, and unimproved roads.
- Maintain communication with dispatch, supervisors, loaders, customers, and other drivers regarding location, arrival time, delays, route issues, equipment condition, and changes in assignment.

- Verify that the material type, loading location, delivery location, quantity, and load instructions match the assigned ticket or dispatch information.
- Monitor loading to prevent uneven distribution, contamination, spillage, trailer damage, and gross or axle weights that exceed legal or equipment limits.
- Inspect the load, gates, tarp or cover, and surrounding area before leaving the loading location and remove loose material from required surfaces.
- Confirm the unloading area is authorized, stable, reasonably level, clear of personnel and obstructions, and suitable for the intended material placement.
- Maintain adequate clearance from overhead lines, structures, vehicles, equipment, excavations, drop-offs, soft ground, and other hazards during dumping operations.
- Operate belly dump gates in a controlled manner and at the speed and sequence directed by the site or project representative.
- Monitor mirrors, trailer position, gate operation, material flow, and surrounding activity throughout unloading and stop immediately if an unsafe condition develops.
- Verify the gates are fully closed and secured and that no material or equipment presents a hazard before returning to travel.
Vehicle Inspection and Equipment Care
- Complete documented pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the tractor and trailer as required.
- Inspect brakes, tires, wheels, lights, reflectors, mirrors, cameras, coupling devices, fifth wheel, kingpin, landing gear, air and electrical lines, suspension, frame, dump gates, controls, tarp system, alarms, and emergency equipment.
- Check fluids, gauges, warning indicators, air pressure, leaks, and other conditions that may affect safe operation.
- Confirm proper coupling and uncoupling procedures and perform a tug test before operating the combination.
- Promptly report defects, warning indicators, damage, leaks, or unsafe conditions and remove the vehicle from service when required by company procedure or regulation.
- Perform routine driver-level maintenance such as fueling, cleaning, fluid checks, and minor adjustments within training and authorization.
- Keep the cab, tractor, trailer, steps, lights, reflective surfaces, and assigned equipment clean, orderly, and serviceable.
DOT Compliance and Documentation
- Comply with applicable Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requirements and all company driver policies.
- Maintain a valid commercial driver's license, DOT medical certification, and other credentials required for the assigned vehicle and operation.
- Accurately record duty status and comply with hours-of-service, electronic logging, rest-break, and supporting-document requirements.
- Complete bills of lading, load tickets, scale tickets, delivery receipts, inspection reports, time records, fuel records, mileage reports, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Verify gross vehicle weight, axle weights, load distribution, and equipment ratings and follow instructions for weighing or adjusting a load.
- Participate in roadside inspections, company audits, post-accident testing, and other compliance activities when required.
Safety and Customer Service
- Comply with company safety policies, client requirements, site orientations, traffic-control plans, job safety analyses, and applicable regulations.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and follow site rules when outside the cab or working near loading and unloading operations.
- Conduct a walkaround before moving from loading, unloading, parking, or staging areas and use a spotter when required.
- Exercise stop-work authority and immediately report incidents, near misses, spills, property damage, equipment damage, cargo loss, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain three points of contact when entering or exiting equipment and use designated steps and handholds.
