Job Duties
- Move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and parking locations
- Couple and uncouple trailers safely and efficiently
- Conduct basic pre-trip and equipment inspections
- Coordinate with yard personnel to maintain smooth operations
- Follow all site safety procedures and traffic regulations
Driving Requirements
- Minimum 6 months of recent yard hostling experience
- Experience operating a yard goat, yard truck, or similar equipment
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Strong backing, trailer positioning, and maneuvering skills
- Ability to work overnight shifts in a fast-paced yard environment

What You Will Do
As a Non-CDL Yard Hostler you will safely operate vehicles to transport goods, materials, or equipment while following established routes, schedules, and safety regulations. You will perform vehicle inspections, maintain required documentation, communicate with dispatch or customers as needed, and help ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time while maintaining a professional appearance and commitment to customer service.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while safely operating a vehicle.
- Ability to enter and exit vehicles frequently throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift, move, or secure freight and materials when required by the assignment.
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and work safely in varying weather and road conditions.
Preferred Experience
- Previous professional driving, delivery, transportation, or logistics experience is preferred.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles, delivery trucks, box trucks, or tractor-trailers is beneficial depending on the assignment.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs), GPS navigation, routing software, or transportation documentation is considered an asset.
