Job Summary:
Morrice Area Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Varsity Golf Coach to lead and develop our high school golf program. The successful candidate will teach golf fundamentals, develop student-athletes’ skills, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and create a positive, competitive athletic environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, matches, and team activities.
- Teach golf fundamentals, including proper swing mechanics, putting, chipping, course management, and rules of play.
- Develop student-athletes’ individual skills, confidence, and understanding of the game.
- Promote teamwork, leadership, discipline, and good sportsmanship.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, transportation, and team activities.
- Maintain accurate records of team participation, equipment, and student-athlete eligibility.
- Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and the Athletic Director.
- Ensure proper care, maintenance, and inventory of golf equipment and uniforms.
- Promote academic achievement and appropriate student conduct.
- Follow all Morrice Area Schools policies, the Athletic Handbook, and Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations.
- Assist in promoting and developing the Morrice golf program.
- Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or High School Principal.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, strategies, and competitive play.
- Previous golf coaching or competitive playing experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively teach, motivate, supervise, and develop high school student-athletes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- Willingness to complete all required MHSAA coaching certifications and training.
- Successful completion of required background checks and district employment requirements.
