Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years as a Business Analyst or Technical BA working directly with software developers or data engineers.
- Proven ability to write clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria that engineers can build from.
- Hands-on SQL for querying, validating and profiling data.
- Working knowledge of Agile delivery and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Process modeling experience (BPMN, Visio, Lucidchart or similar).
- Solid grasp of systems thinking: APIs, integrations, data flows and how upstream changes affect downstream systems.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills; able to find root causes and quantify impact.
- Confident facilitator who can influence and align business, technology and design stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in a business, technical or quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Banking or financial services domain experience: payments, retail or commercial banking, finance change, or risk and regulatory reporting.
- Python familiarity, enough to read code and spec Python-based tools, models or automations.
- Data platform exposure: data warehouses, ETL pipelines, cloud data services (AWS, Azure or GCP), Snowflake or Databricks.
- BI and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- API specification experience (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman).
- Data modeling and data management concepts: lineage, data quality, master and reference data.
- Certifications: IIBA (CBAP, CCBA), BCS Diploma in Business Analysis, or Certified Scrum Product Owner.
Job Description
Key responsibilities
- Partner with business units to elicit, document and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams.
- Work alongside solution architects, data engineers and developers to shape solution design and data flows.
- Map current-state and future-state processes; identify gaps, root causes and quantified business impact.
- Perform data analysis and profiling (SQL, Excel, Python) to support requirements, data quality and reporting needs.
- Produce source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries and interface specifications where needed.
- Maintain and prioritize the backlog with the Product Owner in an Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery model.
- Coordinate with QA and business users on test planning, UAT and defect triage.
- Run workshops and communicate progress, risks and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support change impact assessments, including regulatory, risk and control considerations.
