Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support a complex, multi-entity accounting environment. This individual will play a key role in reviewing financial statements, identifying potential accounting issues and financial risks, managing intercompany activity, and ensuring financials accurately reflect the health of the business.
This role requires someone who can go beyond completing reconciliations. The ideal candidate can step back, review a set of financial statements, understand what the numbers are telling them, recognize when something does not look right, and independently investigate and resolve the issue.
The organization manages approximately 85 to 100 companies/entities, each with its own financial activity and reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant will work alongside staff accountants while taking greater ownership of financial review, complex reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and accounting cleanup.
Key Responsibilities
- Review financial statements across approximately 85 to 100 entities for accuracy and completeness
- Analyze balance sheets and income statements to identify discrepancies, unusual balances, incorrect classifications, and potential financial risks
- Investigate accounting issues and make or recommend appropriate corrections
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances across multiple LLCs and business units
- Review and reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts
- Provide a higher-level review of work completed by Staff Accountants
- Support month-end and financial reporting processes
- Assist with historical accounting cleanup and reconciliation projects
- Understand the financial and operational story behind the numbers and flag areas requiring additional attention
- Support financial forecasting and banking-related accounting activities as needed
- Assist with the organization's transition to Sage Intacct
- Work independently to research accounting issues and determine solutions with limited oversight
