Required Skills & Experience
- 3+ years of machining experience or equivalent hands-on experience in a manufacturing, repair, or machine shop environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and machining specifications.
- Experience operating manual and/or CNC/NC machine tools while holding tight tolerances.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, and inspection equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial mechanical equipment, preferably gearboxes, rotating equipment, pumps, motors, or heavy industrial machinery.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Gearbox repair or rebuild experience.
- Faro Arm measurement and inspection experience.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience. •Knowledge of vibration analysis and gear failure analysis.
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a skilled Machinist to join our workshop team supporting the repair, refurbishment, and manufacturing of industrial gearboxes and power transmission equipment. This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional and NC machining equipment, producing precision-machined components, performing inspections, and supporting gearbox rebuild and service activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong machining background, experience working from technical drawings, and a commitment to quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate conventional machine tools and NC machining equipment.
- Machine components to print specifications for gearbox repair and manufacturing projects.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Perform precision measurements and quality inspections using measuring instruments and Faro Arm equipment.
- Verify finished parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Support gearbox teardown, inspections, and measurement collection during disassembly.
- Coordinate machining activities with service technicians and shop personnel.
- Assist with tooling, equipment maintenance, and workshop organization.
- Support shipping, receiving, and on-site field service activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work environment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and uphold quality standards.
