Job Description
Partner with design engineers, electrical contractors, vendors, and facility stakeholders throughout installation and startup. Verify that electrical installations align with engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment power requirements, and approved design intent. Support facility-wide electrical power distribution, with primary emphasis on industrial systems operating at 480V and below. Maintain awareness of the connection between incoming medium-voltage utility service, substations, and downstream facility distribution. Inspect and verify substations, transformers, switchboards, panelboards, bus duct, grounding systems, fused disconnects, and related distribution equipment. Review contractor redlines, construction drawings, and as-built documentation. Identify installation deficiencies, design conflicts, and constructability issues; document findings and coordinate corrective action. Assist with equipment energization, startup, commissioning, site acceptance testing, and turnover to operations. Coordinate installation sequencing, punch-list resolution, and contractor follow-through. Troubleshoot electrical distribution issues during facility startup and early operations. Support testing and startup of generators, automatic transfer switches, UPS equipment, and power-metering systems. Maintain records of inspections, testing activities, equipment status, and outstanding issues. Help establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical assets. Contribute to electrical system reliability, condition monitoring, lifecycle planning, utility management, and operating-cost control.
