Summary We are seeking a reliable and dedicated individual to fill the role of Substitute Custodian. This position is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The Substitute Custodian will provide support during the absence of regular custodial staff, ensuring that all areas of the facility are well-maintained and adhere to health and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
- Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails, to promote a healthy environment.
- Assist with setting up and taking down furniture for events or activities as needed.
- Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow established safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure work environment.
- Maintain custodial equipment and supplies, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with school staff to address specific cleaning needs or requests.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or cleaning experience is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety practices.
