Bionano Genomics is looking for a temporary Research Associate who will specialize in recovering and preparing megabase-long DNA from various organisms and sample formats, to be run on the Saphyr platform. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and ability to follow and repeat a protocol precisely and consistently. The candidate must be a fast learner, able to execute a newly modified protocol, as well as be observant, able to notice the intricacies of each sample throughout the prep, which could prove useful for protocol development should it become necessary. The candidate will need to organize data and results in spreadsheets and presentation slides. The candidate must be organized and have excellent communication skills and work well with a team.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Isolate and prepare megabase-scale DNA for loading on the Saphyr system
- Load samples onto the Saphyr system
- Organize data collected and summarize and present data at weekly meetings
Skills and Education
- Experience with DNA handling and manipulation
- Working knowledge of the electrophoresis principle in micro- or nano-fluidic devices – desirable
- Able to follow verbal and written instructions
- Detail-oriented, fast learner, very organized
- Basic computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office
- BS/MS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, or related field
