Position Overview As a CDL Campus Driver, you will operate shuttle vehicles along designated campus routes, helping passengers travel safely and efficiently throughout the university. You will be responsible for maintaining schedule reliability, promoting passenger safety, and delivering outstanding customer service on every shift. Key Responsibilities of a CDL Campus Driver:
Safe Transportation Operations
- Operate CDL-required passenger vehicles in a safe and professional manner
- Follow established routes, schedules, and transportation procedures
- Maintain awareness of pedestrian traffic, bicycles, and campus activity
- Comply with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company policies
- Ensure passenger safety at all times
Passenger Assistance & Customer Service
- Greet passengers courteously and professionally
- Assist riders with transportation-related questions
- Provide a welcoming and positive experience for all passengers
- Maintain professionalism during all interactions
- Support accessibility and mobility needs when required
Vehicle Inspection & Maintenance
- Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Report maintenance concerns and safety issues promptly
- Keep vehicles clean, organized, and presentable
- Complete inspection reports and related documentation accurately
- Follow company safety and emergency procedures
Route Performance & Reliability
- Maintain punctual route performance throughout assigned shifts
- Ensure dependable attendance and schedule adherence
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and transportation supervisors
- Respond appropriately to service disruptions and operational changes
- Support efficient transportation services across campus
Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to all safety policies and operating procedures
- Participate in required safety training programs
- Maintain all required licenses, endorsements, and certifications
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism
- Support continuous improvement of transportation services
Qualifications of a CDL Campus Driver:
Required
- Valid CDL Class B License or higher
- Passenger (P) Endorsement
- Clean driving record
- Strong commitment to safety and customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and responsibly
Preferred
- Experience operating shuttle buses, transit vehicles, or passenger transportation services
- Experience working in a customer-facing environment
