Position Overview As a Campus Transit Driver, you will safely transport students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the university using designated shuttle routes. You'll operate on scheduled loop routes with clearly defined stops, providing reliable and courteous service while helping keep the campus community connected. Key Responsibilities of a Campus Transit Driver:

Safe Vehicle Operation

• Safely operate a CDL-required shuttle vehicle throughout campus.
• Follow designated routes and schedules.
• Adhere to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrian-heavy areas and campus traffic patterns.

Passenger Service

• Provide friendly, professional, and customer-focused service.
• Assist passengers with questions regarding routes and stops.
• Create a welcoming and positive experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain professionalism in all passenger interactions.

Vehicle Inspections & Safety

• Complete required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Report vehicle concerns, maintenance issues, or safety hazards promptly.
• Ensure the shuttle remains clean, safe, and presentable.
• Follow established safety and emergency procedures.

Route Reliability

• Operate scheduled loop routes efficiently and on time.
• Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Support smooth transportation services across campus.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch and management as needed.

Qualifications of a Campus Transit Driver:

Required

• Valid CDL Class B (or higher)
• Passenger (P) Endorsement
• Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and professionalism
• Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent customer service

Preferred

• Previous experience operating shuttle buses, transit vehicles, school transportation, or passenger transportation services
• Experience working in customer-facing environments
• Familiarity with campus, municipal, or public transit operations
