Summary
T2S is seeking to hire a Senior Software Engineer to support a Cybersecurity Research and Development (R&D) team researching, designing, developing and integrating new cybersecurity capabilities or systems with the goal of providing solutions that can be transitioned to project managers or directly to units for fielding.
The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering background in an intersection between cybersecurity and networking disciplines. This role will be a mixture of mentorship of a team of developers as well as providing core key software contributions to research projects as they are being developed.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide technical leadership to a cross-functional R&D team on projects throughout their lifecycle, from initial proposal to final wrap up, with a goal of integration into partner DoD systems
- Work with the client to design and architect research projects based on technical goals from the funding source, and mentoring the R&D team throughout the lifecycle
- Work with vendor CRADA agreements to provide feedback on design, architecture, and integration
- Work with external research partners in academia and industry to guide their research projects to meet the client’s goals, and collaborate in building a solution that can provide meaningful value to the client
- Collaborate and communicate clearly with internal and external development teams, using teams, source control, ticketing, and code review tools
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance (REQUIRED)
- Master’s degree or equivalent experience within Computer Science or Information Security disciplines and 5-10+ years of directly related experience
- Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Python, Rust, or Go
- Proficiency in Git for version control
- Proficiency in ticketing and kanban board systems such as Youtrack or Jira
- Experience in developing systems software covering one or more domains: Cybersecurity sensors, Log analysis and alerting, Networking software, either protocol design or analysis software, Utilizing message bus or queue architectures eg. Kafka, Orchestration and control of remote systems, API integration
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines with linting, testing, build, package and publish
- Experience with containerized infrastructure such as Kubernetes or Docker
Desired
- TS/SCI Clearance
- Experience with developing a complex production software system processing thousands of units of data. Multiple services connected to each other and understanding how to field software with multiple sites and limited connectivity
- Experience with developing integrations with the ELK stack(Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Elastic Security or Elastic Agent)
- Experience with enterprise messaging patterns such as fanout, worker queues, and data flow concepts
- Experience with network design on high latency, low bandwidth, or high packet loss austere network environments
- Experience with network segmentation, firewall configuration, microsegmentation, and other advanced networking topics
- Experience with Zero-Trust concept, and designing or architecting zero-trust systems
- Experience with eBPF or XDP
