Staffmark is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent to support purchasing operations, manufacturing vendors, customers, warehouse staff, and the sales team.
Job Duties
- Source materials and maintain relationships with manufacturing vendors and suppliers
- Negotiate pricing and monitor product costs and availability
- Process stock and non-stock purchase orders
- Maintain accurate manufacturer costs, pricing, and product records
- Monitor inventory levels and help reduce aged inventory
- Work with the sales team daily to prepare quotes and support customer orders
- Coordinate material releases and communicate delivery expectations
- Process returns, freight claims, credits, and order changes
Qualifications
- Experience working with manufacturing vendors
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Solid work history with strong professional references
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organization, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage large amounts of information and competing priorities
- Familiarity with sourcing, vendor management, and negotiation
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a related industry or similar position is preferred.
- Experience working in fast-paced, customer-focused, manufacturing, warehouse, administrative, or professional environments is beneficial depending on the assignment.
- Relevant certifications, technical training, or specialized skills are considered an asset.
- Individuals who demonstrate adaptability, professionalism, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn are well positioned for success as a Purchasing Agent.
- Warehouse purchasing experience preferred
- 1+ year of purchasing or project management experience preferred
- 1+ year of inside sales experience preferred
- College degree preferred
