## About the role
We're looking for a senior Linux systems engineer to own the health, performance and monitoring of our Linux fleet, from servers in the data center to edge gateways in the field. This is a hands-on systems role: you'll build, patch, tune and troubleshoot Linux at the OS level, and you'll own the Prometheus and Grafana stack that tells us how it's all running.
## What you'll do
- Build, harden, patch and upgrade Linux servers (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) across production environments
- Own system-level troubleshooting: boot issues, systemd services, storage and filesystems, kernel and performance tuning
- Deploy and maintain Prometheus (node exporter and other exporters, PromQL, Alertmanager) and build Grafana dashboards and alerts for system health
- Automate routine admin work with Bash and Ansible
- Diagnose network issues (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls) using tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark
- Run root cause analysis on production incidents and document fixes so they don't recur
## Must have
- 6+ years as a Linux systems engineer or Linux administrator
- Deep hands-on RHEL or CentOS administration: patching, upgrades, systemd, SELinux, LVM, performance tuning
- Production experience with **Prometheus** and **Grafana** for monitoring and alerting
- Strong Bash scripting
## Nice to have
- Ansible or other configuration management (Puppet, Satellite)
- Docker
- Edge gateways, embedded systems or IoT devices (Azure IoT Edge a plus)
- Python
- Refrigeration, plant maintenance or supply chain domain experience
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
qualifications:
6+ years in Software product development and maintenance. Experience of working in Agile teams Proven experience and expertise with developing applications using Java Hands-on with Spring Framework, specifically Spring Batch Sound knowledge of applications communicating via protocols like REST, HTTP, MQTT, AMQP, TCP/UDP etc Basic scripting knowledge on Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS) based systems Knowledge of network/traffic analyzer tools like Wireshark (Ethereal)/network monitor/SmartSniff is a plus Experience of working with embedded systems and hardware devices is preferable Working knowledge of containerization & technologies such as docker Sound knowledge of source code management tools like SVN/ Git/ VSTS, etc. Development experience with Cloud frameworks. Hands-on with Microsoft Azure IoT will be an added advantage Understanding of edge computing & gateways is preferable Strong background in Software design Applied knowledge in TDD Exposure to CI-CD Refrigeration/Plant Maintenance/Supply Chain domain Knowledge preferred You'll make an impact by: Leads and participates in medium- to large-scale projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; gathering requested information
