Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, calibrate, and operate CNC fiber/CO2 laser cutting machines according to job orders and cut sheets.
- Safely load and unload raw materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum) using overhead cranes or material handling tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications to ensure precise cutting paths and dimensions.
- Conduct first-piece and ongoing quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify specifications.
- Perform routine preventive machine maintenance, including lens cleaning, nozzle changes, and table cleanouts.
- Monitor machine operations to detect optical or structural irregularities and adjust settings as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while communicating effectively with shop supervisors and assembly teams.
Qualifications & Special Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience operating laser cutting machinery or related CNC metal fabrication equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and work from technical blueprints, schematics, and cut lists.
- Familiarity with sheet metal gauges and materials (steel, aluminum, stainless steel).
- Proficiency with standard shop measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, high attention to detail, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
