PIRTEK Marion is opening our Delaware service center this fall, and we are hiring our first sales representative.
We replace hydraulic hoses on site, usually while a machine is down and somebody is losing money by the hour. Our customers are manufacturers, construction contractors, quarries, rental yards, farms, and trucking outfits. Anyone with equipment that stops when a hose blows.
Right now we have no customers in this territory. No house accounts, nobody ahead of you, nothing inherited. You build it, and it is yours.
What it pays
$50,000 base salary, plus uncapped commission. You earn 5% of everything a new account buys in its first year, and 2.5% every year after that.
The commission compounds. Accounts you open this year keep paying you next year while you are opening the next set on top of them.
- Year one, working hard: $62,000 to $70,000
- Year two, with your book built: $75,000 to $85,000
We will walk you through that math in the interview using real numbers. We would rather you check it than take our word for it.
About experience
If you have sold outside before, we want to talk. This is the kind of territory most reps never get handed. Wide open, no legacy accounts, and the person who builds it owns the relationships.
If you have not, we will still talk to you. Some of the best people in this business came off a parts counter, out of a quick lube bay, or from behind a rental desk. Inside sales, counter sales, an assistant manager job, a couple of years dealing with customers in any industry. That is a real foundation. What we cannot teach is the willingness to walk into a shop where nobody knows your name.
Hydraulic experience is not required either way. We train the technical side, and PIRTEK pays for it.
What you will do
- Build and work a target list across the territory
- Walk into businesses that have never heard of us and start a conversation
- Find out what equipment they run and what downtime costs them
- Follow up. Most of this job is the second and third visit, not the first.
- Ride along with our technician so you understand what you are selling
- Own the relationship after the sale, not just the first order
Straight talk about the hard part
Most days you will hear no. You will walk into shops where the owner is busy and does not want to talk to you. Nobody is watching your calendar, which means nobody is going to make you go out on a cold Tuesday afternoon in February.
People who need a manager standing over them do not last in this job. People who like a scoreboard do.
What we are looking for
- You can talk to a stranger without rehearsing it first
- You are organized enough to follow up when you said you would
- You are comfortable on a shop floor, in steel toes, around equipment
- A couple of years of work where you dealt with customers
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- High school diploma or GED
What you get
- Paid PIRTEK sales and product training, and it is yours to keep
- Mileage reimbursement and a company phone
- No weekends
- $400 a month, tax-free, toward the health plan you choose, plus employer-paid dental and vision
- Paid time off and six paid holidays
- Time in the truck with the owner early on, and direct access to him after that. No layer between you and a decision.
About us
PIRTEK Marion is locally owned and operated, backed by a national franchise network. Real training and real standards behind a small company where the owner answers the phone. You would be our first sales hire, building a territory that is yours.
