- Morgan Smith Industries, LLC is seeking a dependable and safety-focused DOT Driver to join our team in Columbia, Kentucky. As a premier manufacturer of large-scale, premium-grade architectural millwork and complex custom fabrications for commercial, educational, and institutional projects, Morgan Smith is committed to delivering exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy being on the road while also remaining part of a local team. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely transporting materials and finished products to customers, job sites, and other designated locations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service.
Schedule This is a part-time DOT driving position with no overnight travel required. Drivers return home daily. Compensation will be based on experience. Hours will vary from 5 hours per week up to 32 hours per week depending on the need. No guarantee of hours per week.
Essential Responsibilities
- Safely operate a 24-foot box truck to transport products and materials.
- Safely pull and maneuver a trailer behind a cargo van when required.
- Load, secure, transport, and unload materials in accordance with DOT and company safety requirements.
- Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and routine vehicle inspections.
- Ensure deliveries are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and handling products to prevent damage during transport.
- Maintain delivery documentation and required driving records.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, customers, and team members.
- Represent Morgan Smith Industries professionally during deliveries and customer interactions.
- Follow all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- DOT driving experience preferred.
- Experience operating box trucks, delivery vehicles, or towing trailers.
- Ability to safely navigate delivery routes and job sites.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Dependable attendance and excellent work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Experience in transportation, delivery services, manufacturing, construction, warehouse operations, or related fields is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to load and unload materials as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to safely secure and handle materials during transport.
