The FENIX Systems Fielding Technician supports installation, integration, configuration, upgrade, and sustainment of F-35 Emulated Non-OFP Interactive Xperience (FENIX) systems at domestic and international fielding locations. FENIX is a rapidly deployable, multi-configuration simulation system that supports F-35 tactics, techniques, and procedures training, as well as development and test activities for U.S. and partner-nation users.
Working as part of the Test, Integration, and Systems Fielding Branch under the direction of the Systems Fielding Lead, the technician helps ensure FENIX systems are properly installed, configured, operationally verified, documented, and maintained throughout the fielding lifecycle. This role requires hands-on technical troubleshooting across hardware, software, operating systems, networking, and training-device interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Deploy as part of a technical team to conduct new FENIX installations, system upgrades, technical refreshes, system checkout, and sustainment activities at CONUS and OCONUS fielded sites.
- Deliver, install, configure, update, and troubleshoot FENIX software on FENIX hardware, pilot training devices, and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) computer systems.
- Support installation, replacement, configuration, and integration of hardware components associated with system upgrades and technical refresh efforts.
- Verify system configurations, software versions, connectivity, and operational status following installation, upgrade, or sustainment actions.
- Perform system setup and checkout activities using approved installation procedures, configuration baselines, release documentation, and technical guidance.
- Update FENIX development, integration, and test laboratories with release candidates, beta versions, and production software releases.
- Maintain accurate records of installed configurations, hardware and software versions, release packages, system updates, and fielding actions.
- Document system checkout results, discrepancies, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and issue-resolution status.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and report software, hardware, interface, and network-connectivity issues encountered during fielding, upgrades, laboratory updates, and sustainment events.
- Coordinate technical findings and resolution efforts with systems engineering, software development, integration, test, logistics, and sustainment personnel.
- Support preparation, packaging, inventory, transport, and accountability of fielding equipment, spares, software media, and associated technical artifacts.
- Assist with maintaining fielding checklists, installation guides, configuration records, user-facing technical documentation, and after-action inputs.
- Support customer engagement during fielding events by providing professional technical assistance and communicating system status, known issues, and required follow-on actions.
- Participate in system demonstrations, readiness reviews, technical interchange meetings, and other program activities as required.
