Job Description
The Solution Architect - Workday Integrations owns the integration architecture between Workday (HCM and Financials) and the broader application ecosystem. This role defines the Workday-side integration strategy, selects the right integration pattern for each use case (EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, Workday Web Services/REST APIs, RaaS), and establishes the contracts, security model and operational standards that keep integrations reliable and supportable.
The role partners closely with the Boomi iPaaS and API gateway architects on canonical data models and end-to-end data flows, and works with Workday functional teams, enterprise architecture and application owners to ensure integrations align to enterprise standards and the Architecture Review Board (ARB) process.
Key Responsibilities
- Integration architecture: Define target-state architecture, patterns and reference designs for inbound, outbound and event-driven Workday integrations.
- Pattern selection: Provide guidance on when to use EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, web services, RaaS or middleware-led integration, balancing cost, complexity and supportability.
- Contracts and data models: Design API and web service contracts and align Workday data objects to enterprise canonical models with the Boomi and API gateway architects.
- Security and governance: Define integration system user (ISU), ISSG and OAuth/API client security models; ensure compliance with data privacy, audit and SOX-relevant controls.
- Architecture deliverables: Produce solution designs, sequence and data-flow diagrams, and decision records for leadership, steering committees and the ARB.
- Rationalization: Assess the existing integration estate, identify redundancy and technical debt, and recommend consolidation and modernization.
- Delivery leadership: Guide engineers and developers through design, build, testing and cutover; review designs and code for adherence to standards.
- Operations: Define monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry and reconciliation standards for production integrations.
