Job Description
We are seeking a Wire Harness Electrical Engineer II to join the Interconnect Team supporting the development of electrical wiring systems (EWS) for advanced launch vehicles and spacecraft. This role will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and integrating wire harness systems that distribute power and electrical signals within avionics hardware, instrumentation systems, and payloads. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced aerospace environment and work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the full product lifecycle, including concept development, design, manufacturing, testing, and final vehicle integration. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of critical harnessing projects that directly support flight hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate electrical wiring interconnect systems (EWIS) designs for launch vehicles and spacecraft.
- Design and develop wire harnesses, cable assemblies, shielding systems, and electrical interconnect architectures.
- Interpret and apply industry standards, requirements, and best practices related to wire harness development and qualification.
- Generate and maintain: ○ Wire diagrams ○ Harness drawings ○ 3D CAD routing models ○ Manufacturing documentation ○ Technical reports supporting flight, qualification, and test hardware
- Coordinate engineering interfaces among internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful harness integration.
- Make engineering decisions based on technical merit, risk assessments, cost considerations, schedule requirements, and quality standards.
- Provide technical support for product design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and qualification activities.
- Partner with manufacturing teams to ensure wiring systems meet established flight requirements and production objectives.
- Investigate non-conformances, support troubleshooting efforts, and implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain standards and guidelines related to: ○ Cable assemblies ○ Shielding and grounding ○ Harness routing and integration ○ Vehicle-level electrical implementation
