Required Skills & Experience
Hands-on engineering experience in a hardware or electrical lab environment. Experience testing power electronics, inverters, energy systems, or comparable electrical hardware. Strong experience developing automated tests or lab automation. Ability to write software/scripts from scratch in Python or another programming language. Ability to interpret electrical measurements and debug interactions between hardware and software. Experience taking ownership of validation activities rather than only executing predefined test procedures. Strong technical documentation and engineering communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience with grid compliance, grid-connected products, or utility/grid requirements. Experience with solar, battery storage, EV charging, or inverter-based energy products. Experience with products or systems comparable to those developed by companies such as SolarEdge and other battery/solar inverter manufacturers. Electrical Engineering background or equivalent practical experience with power electronics. Experience validating embedded firmware on physical hardware.
Job Description
We’re looking for a System Validation Engineer to support the development and validation of connected energy and power electronics products. You’ll work at the intersection of hardware, firmware, test automation, and grid compliance, helping ensure products operate safely and reliably across real-world grid conditions. This is a hands-on engineering role combining lab-based electrical testing, software-driven test automation, data analysis, and technical documentation. You’ll own validation activities end to end, from building test approaches and exercising physical hardware to analyzing electrical measurements and documenting compliance results. What You’ll Do Own system-level validation activities for power electronics and energy products from test definition through execution, analysis, and documentation. Work hands-on in the lab with inverters and energy/power hardware, including systems that source, store, and deliver power. Validate firmware behavior by measuring and analyzing electrical characteristics such as voltage, current, frequency, and power. Test product behavior under varying grid conditions, including functionality such as frequency and voltage response/droop. Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts, with a strong emphasis on Python or comparable programming environments. Design repeatable lab tests that combine software automation with physical electrical hardware. Analyze test data, diagnose unexpected system behavior, and partner with firmware, controls, electrical, and systems engineers to drive issues to resolution. Own validation documentation and contribute evidence required for grid-compliance activities. Communicate validation status, failures, risks, and results clearly across engineering teams.
