BESS Technician

Job Description

The BESS Technician will support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This individual will work hands-on with electrical and controls equipment to ensure battery storage facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.

The technician will work around equipment such as battery units, inverters/power conversion systems, transformers, switchgear, control systems, communications equipment, and other electrical infrastructure associated with energy-storage facilities.

Skills and Requirements

2+ years of electrical, industrial maintenance, power generation, renewable energy, or similar technician experience.

Strong electrical troubleshooting skills. Comfortable working around medium- and/or high-voltage electrical equipment.

Experience reading electrical prints and schematics. Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, controls, networking, or industrial communication systems is a plus.

Previous BESS, solar, inverter, or power-conversion experience is highly preferred. Someone from solar O&M, power generation, substation maintenance, industrial electrical maintenance, or inverter/UPS field service could transfer well.
