Job Description
Role Overview Our client is accelerating its MES 2.0 initiative to standardize manufacturing execution capabilities across a global manufacturing footprint. Historically, facilities have utilized different MES solutions with inconsistent functionality, reporting, and support models. This resource will help establish a scalable Ignition-based MES architecture while expanding Kanoa MES capabilities and supporting the development of additional smart manufacturing applications. The position sits within the enterprise manufacturing architecture and smart manufacturing organization and will work directly with operations, OT, engineering, controls, and IT teams. This is not solely an MES support role. The consultant will help drive manufacturing modernization efforts and support the development of plant-floor applications integrated with automation technologies such as AMRs, AGVs, and other Industry 4.0 initiatives.
Day to Day
- Work primarily from the Northville office while supporting manufacturing facilities throughout Metro Detroit.
- Travel to manufacturing plants for workshops, assessments, deployments, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Continue expanding and supporting Kanoa MES solutions across manufacturing operations.
- Deploy and enhance MES applications utilizing Ignition and Kanoa platforms.
- Configure out-of-the-box MES functionality to support MES standardization efforts.
- Build production dashboards, reporting solutions, and operational visibility tools.
- Configure and support OEE/OAE, Production Reporting, Quality, Traceability, Maintenance, and Energy Management capabilities.
- Develop Python scripts and custom business logic where platform functionality requires enhancement.
- Design and optimize SQL queries, datasets, and manufacturing databases.
- Integrate MES platforms with PLCs, controls systems, automation equipment, sensors, and enterprise applications.
- Support SAP and ERP integrations.
- Develop and support Track & Trace / Genealogy solutions.
- Partner directly with plant managers, controls engineers, manufacturing engineers, operations leaders, and shop-floor personnel.
- Support development of additional smart manufacturing applications, including material call systems integrated with AMRs/AGVs.
- Participate in plant assessments, pilot deployments, production support activities, and future rollout planning. Help establish reusable MES standards and deployment frameworks that can scale across multiple facilities globally.
