Job Description
We are seeking an experienced MECM/SCCM Systems Engineer to support and maintain a large enterprise, server-focused Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager environment. This individual will take hands-on ownership of MECM infrastructure, troubleshooting, Windows Server deployments, secure communications, and automation. The ideal candidate understands MECM beyond console administration and can independently evaluate an existing environment, troubleshoot through logs, and resolve complex infrastructure issues. The engineer will also help evaluate and rationalize current MECM functionality as the organization determines the future direction of the platform.
Maintain the health, stability, and availability of the server-side MECM/SCCM environment. Administer and troubleshoot MECM infrastructure, including Management Points, Distribution Points, boundaries, boundary groups, PXE, and OSD. Support multiple MECM environments and ensure boundaries are properly configured to prevent resources from crossing environments. Troubleshoot MECM infrastructure, client communication, policy, content distribution, server builds, imaging, and deployment issues. Diagnose complex issues through MECM logs, configuration analysis, and independent root-cause investigation. Maintain Windows Server build processes using OSD, task sequences, WIM packages, and deployment content. Investigate and resolve failed Windows Server builds and imaging issues. Perform Windows image servicing, including DISM/WIM maintenance, patch slipstreaming, and deployment image updates. Support PKI and certificate-based MECM communication, including troubleshooting certificate and EKU-related issues. Support efforts to move MECM communications toward secure certificate-based configurations. Develop and maintain PowerShell automation for MECM administration, remediation, health validation, imaging, and operational activities. Support Microsoft Defender configuration, including policy updates and allow/block or exclusion requests. Support MECM security remediation and platform maintenance. Assist with MECM architecture, infrastructure changes, upgrades, migrations, or rebuilds as required. Help evaluate which MECM capabilities should remain on the platform and which could transition to other enterprise technologies. Maintain technical documentation and follow enterprise change-management processes.
