- About Alsos Behavioral Health
Alsos Behavioral Health is a multi-state addiction-treatment company focused on Medicaid and safety-net substance use disorder care. The company is building a scalable residential addiction-treatment platform where patient access, strong census, admissions speed, documentation discipline, and operational execution all matter.
- About the Role
Secure and maintain verified patient coverage and collect valid patient responsibility through accurate, respectful financial counseling and follow-through.
You will work directly with patients and authorized representatives, help complete Medicaid enrollment work, and follow unresolved cases through verified outcomes and clear handoffs to the revenue cycle team.
- What This Role Owns
- Reconcile the current patient census, verified coverage and existing coverage-case record with Admissions and UR; identify uninsured patients, interrupted coverage and cases requiring renewal or other assistance.
- Screen the patient’s circumstances; explain the appropriate application or renewal pathway; obtain required information and supporting documents through approved, authorized channels.
- Complete accurate Medicaid enrollment, renewal or restoration submissions and retain proof of receipt. Follow the approved state playbook and current internal turnaround deadlines.
- Track each case’s status, outstanding requirements, agency deadlines and next action. Follow up with patients, authorized representatives and agencies until a verified outcome or documented escalation is reached.
- Verify the eligibility outcome, coverage effective dates and relevant payer information. Record evidence in the designated systems; distinguish submission, active coverage, authorization and payment.
- Give UR and RCM a documented handoff containing coverage evidence, dates, unresolved issues and the next responsible party. Follow up when the handoff is incomplete or an enrollment issue continues to block account resolution.
- Explain benefits, estimated patient responsibility, financial assistance and approved payment options in language the patient can understand. Resolve questions with billing staff without promising coverage or changing approved financial terms.
- Protect patient and financial information, use approved systems, and escalate material barriers promptly to Revenue Cycle leadership. Use approved tools to reduce repetitive work while verifying the underlying evidence.
- Explain and directly collect valid deductibles, coinsurance, copayments and other patient responsibility using approved estimates, verified balances and facility financial policies.
- When immediate payment is not feasible, establish or coordinate an approved payment arrangement within delegated authority; document the terms and follow up on commitments.
- Record payments accurately in approved systems, provide receipts and follow cash-handling and reconciliation controls. Escalate disputed balances, assistance requests, refunds and adjustments to the authorized owner.
- Work onsite at the Little Rock facility. Own Medicaid enrollment assistance and direct patient collections under approved financial policies.
- What Success Looks Like
- Patients who need coverage help are identified and understand their next steps.
- Applications are accurate, deadlines are managed, and coverage outcomes are verified.
- The receiving team has the evidence needed to act; unresolved cases have a clear next step.
- Patient responsibility is collected or addressed through approved arrangements with accurate records.
- Required Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience helping patients or applicants complete Medicaid enrollment is required for every new hire. General customer service, provider credentialing or billing experience alone is not an equivalent.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to meet the onsite schedule and assigned work location requirements.
- Ability to use electronic records, application portals and standard office software.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Direct Medicaid enrollment work in the hiring state and patient-facing healthcare, particularly substance use treatment.
- Demonstrated ability to explain coverage and financial terms in another language relevant to the served population.
- Who Will Thrive
You follow through after paperwork is submitted, explain difficult information clearly, and notice when a missing document or unclear handoff could leave a patient without coverage. You can work independently while escalating decisions outside your authority.
- Not a Fit If
This role will not suit someone who wants remote work, has no hands-on Medicaid enrollment experience, or prefers to hand off unresolved cases without verifying what happens next.
- Application Instructions
Apply through the published Alsos recruiting listing with your resume. Describe your hands-on Medicaid enrollment experience and the states or programs in which you have worked. Do not include patient-identifying information.
- Equal Employment Opportunity
Alsos Behavioral Health provides equal employment opportunity and considers applicants based on job-related qualifications. Reasonable accommodations are available in the application and employment process as required by applicable law.
