Build relationships that lead to successful athletic field and recreation projects. We are seeking a Business Developer who can identify opportunities early, understand client needs, and guide qualified prospects through the proposal and award process.
Sports Fields, Inc. (FIELDS) is a 100% employee-owned contractor specializing in the construction, renovation, and maintenance of athletic fields and sports facilities. We deliver natural grass and synthetic turf projects for schools, municipalities, recreation organizations, and sports venues.
What You Will Do
- Develop relationships with schools, municipalities, recreation departments, owners, architects, engineers, and industry partners.
- Identify new construction, renovation, and maintenance opportunities through outreach, referrals, procurement notices, and industry events.
- Qualify opportunities by understanding project scope, funding, schedule, decision makers, procurement requirements, and fit.
- Maintain an accurate opportunity pipeline with documented contacts, next steps, anticipated timing, and project values.
- Coordinate site visits, presentations, qualifications packages, and proposals with estimating and design personnel.
- Communicate client expectations clearly, support negotiations within approved authority, and assist with the handoff to construction.
- Maintain relationships after award and completion to support client satisfaction, referrals, and repeat business.
What You Bring
- At least 3 years of business development or consultative sales experience in construction or a related industry.
- Experience with athletic facilities, civil construction, public procurement, or institutional clients preferred.
- Ability to develop relationships, ask useful questions, and translate client needs into qualified opportunities.
- Strong communication, presentation, follow-through, and CRM or pipeline management skills.
- Degree in business, construction management, sports management, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience welcomed.
