Original job description

Are you a culinary professional who takes pride in every plate? Creative Dining Services at The University Of Saint Francis is looking for a skilled, passionate full-time Cook to join our team. We don’t just serve meals - we create community through great food. If you thrive in a collaborative environment, excel at flavor and presentation, and want to work for a company that truly invests in your growth, we want you in our kitchen.

What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities):

Culinary Excellence & Execution
Master the menu: Prepare high-quality, properly seasoned, and beautifully presented dishes according to established recipes.
Perfect the timing: Time your food production seamlessly so everything is fresh and ready exactly when service starts.
Cook smart: Utilize batch cooking techniques to maximize freshness and eliminate food waste.
Kitchen Safety & Operations
Own food safety: Practice flawless safe food handling, including proper labeling, dating, and strict temperature controls (under 40°F for cold, over 135°F for hot).
Keep it spotless: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and highly organized workstation; manage inventory and put away stock efficiently.
Command the kitchen: Handle opening and closing procedures (locking up, securing equipment) and meticulously maintain food, cooling, and appliance logs.
Teamwork & Communication
Collaborate daily: Partner with management on inventory, ordering, and production records (tracking counts, overages, and shortages).
Support the line: Jump in to help your teammates, monitor equipment performance, and communicate proactively with supervisors to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

Who You Are (The Ideal Candidate):

Experienced professional: You bring a minimum of 2 years of cooking experience to the table.
Safety certified: You hold a valid ServSafe Certification.
Reliable teammate: You show up on time, in uniform, ready to bring your best energy to the line. (High School diploma or equivalent is a plus, but not required).

What’s In It For You (We Offer):

Competitive pay + bonus opportunities
Full health benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance
Future security: 401(k) retirement plan with a company match
Work-life balance: Generous paid time off (PTO)
Great culture: A fun, innovative, and stable work environment with room to grow
