Material Handler
Consarc Corporation | Rancocas, New Jersey | Full-Time
Help Move Advanced Manufacturing from Parts to Finished Equipment.
Who We Are:
Every time you board an airplane, drive a car, use your smartphone, or benefit from modern medical technology, you rely on advanced materials engineered to perform under extraordinary conditions.
Many of those materials begin their journey in specialized melting and processing equipment designed and manufactured by Consarc. Since 1962, Consarc Corporation has developed vacuum melting, vacuum casting, remelting, and vacuum heating technology. Our equipment helps manufacturers produce the high-performance metals and alloys used in jet engines, aerospace components, medical implants, power generation equipment, and other products that people depend on every day.
Today, our work includes equipment for rare earth permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and advanced electronics; specialized alloys for aerospace and defense applications; and advanced metal powders used in additive manufacturing. Consarc is part of the Inductotherm Group, a worldwide family of companies specializing in induction heating, melting, thermal processing, and advanced manufacturing equipment. This gives us the resources, technical expertise, and international reach of a global industrial organization while maintaining the hands-on environment of a specialized equipment manufacturer. From our headquarters in Rancocas, New Jersey, we design and build custom-engineered systems for customers around the world. With strong demand for our products and a new manufacturing expansion underway, we’re investing in the people and capabilities needed for the next generation of Consarc technology.
Our Material Handlers help keep production moving and prepare finished equipment for delivery. If you enjoy practical, hands-on work, operating material handling equipment, and working with a manufacturing team, Consarc offers that opportunity.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Material Handler to support receiving, material movement, staging, packaging, and shipping activities for Consarc’s custom industrial equipment and customer replacement parts.
This position involves more than moving inventory. You will handle large and complex components, build wooden crates and skids, stage materials for assembly, and assist with equipment disassembly and shipment preparation.
You will work closely with Shipping and Receiving, Manufacturing, and Production Control to ensure that materials reach the right location and that outgoing equipment is identified, protected, and prepared for shipment.
What You’ll Do:
- Load and unload trucks using forklifts, overhead cranes, and appropriate lifting and rigging equipment.
- Move materials, components, and equipment throughout the facility to support manufacturing, assembly, shipping, and customer replacement orders.
- Unpack incoming materials, open crates, and stage items for inspection, storage, or production use.
- Check incoming and outgoing materials against shipping documents and report shortages, damage, or discrepancies.
- Stage parts and assemblies by job or work order to support production activities.
- Build wooden crates, skids, blocking, bracing, and packaging supports using hand and power tools.
- Package, secure, and label equipment and replacement parts to protect them during handling and transportation.
- Assist with equipment teardown and disassembly for shipment, following direction from Manufacturing personnel.
- Identify and label disassembled components so customers and field service personnel can recognize and reassemble them.
- Assist with shipment documentation, packing lists, and records of packaged materials.
- Select and use appropriate material handling equipment within your training and authorization.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized receiving, staging, storage, and shipping areas.
- Coordinate with other departments to support material flow and shipment schedules.
- Follow established safety procedures, inspect handling equipment before use, and report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
- Support improvements in material handling, storage, packaging, and shipping practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in material handling, shipping and receiving, or a related role in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience operating forklifts and overhead cranes and using lifting and rigging equipment.
- Hands-on carpentry experience, including the ability to build wooden crates, skids, and supports using hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with packing, labeling, and checking incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Ability to read work instructions, packing lists, and basic mechanical drawings.
- Ability to handle heavy, irregularly shaped, or delicate components safely and recognize when additional assistance is needed.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when identifying parts, checking quantities, and labeling shipments.
- Ability to follow instructions, organize assigned work, and communicate effectively with other personnel.
- A dependable work ethic and commitment to workplace safety and product quality.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable:
- Handling large industrial machinery, fabricated structures, or custom equipment.
- Rigging and moving components with uneven weight distribution or specialized lifting requirements.
- Packaging and securing equipment for domestic and international shipment.
- Equipment teardown, component identification, and shipment preparation.
- Reading mechanical assembly drawings and bills of material.
- Recording material movements and inventory transactions in an ERP system.
- Jobscope ERP software.
Candidates do not need prior experience with Consarc equipment or metallurgical processing. We value safe working habits, practical skills, and care in handling the parts and equipment our customers depend on.
