UNC Event/Prep Cook Location: Kenan Stadium at UNC – Chapel Hill, NC Department: Culinary Operations Position: Event/Prep Cook Minimum Age: 18+ Position Summary Rocky Top Catering proudly partners with the University of North Carolina to provide high-quality dining and catering experiences for student-athletes, fans, and guests. Our culinary team supports daily meal service, athletic training table operations, and large-scale events throughout UNC, including football game days at Kenan Stadium. We are seeking a dependable, motivated Event/Prep Cook to assist with food preparation, cooking, setup, and service. This position offers the opportunity to work in a variety of culinary settings, including the possibility of preparing and serving food at interactive chef stations during UNC football games.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes and food safety standards.
- Assist with daily meal preparation and service for UNC student-athletes.
- Support catering events, buffet setup, replenishment, and breakdown.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and work environment.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and storage procedures.
- Work collaboratively with chefs and culinary team members to ensure quality and timely service.
- Assist with special events and high-volume service as needed.
- Potentially operate interactive chef stations during UNC football games, preparing and serving food directly to guests while providing an engaging hospitality experience.
Qualifications
- Previous cooking or food preparation experience preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and food safety.
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Flexibility to work morning and midday shifts, Monday through Friday, as well as occasional evenings, weekends, and UNC football game days based on event needs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or carry kitchen supplies as required.
