Construction Manager
Location: Houston, TX | North & West Houston Compensation: $115,000–$130,000 base salary, DOE + Project Bonuses

We're recruiting for an established luxury custom home builder with more than 40 years of experience and nearly 400 homes built throughout the Houston area. Known for exceptional craftsmanship, strong client relationships, and an uncompromising attention to detail, the company takes a thoughtful, hands-on approach to building distinctive custom homes.
They're looking for an experienced Construction Manager who can own projects from the early stages of construction through final completion and warranty. This is a hybrid project management and field leadership role for someone who understands the technical side of residential construction but also recognizes that delivering an exceptional home requires organization, communication, accountability, and attention to the smallest details.
The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and comfortable managing several moving parts at once. They take pride in their work, anticipate problems before they happen, and are willing to step in wherever needed to keep a project moving and ensure the finished product meets the company's high standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage luxury custom residential projects from active construction through completion, final walkthroughs, and warranty.
- Oversee daily jobsite activities, subcontractors, schedules, material deliveries, and quality control.
- Build, maintain, and actively manage detailed construction schedules, anticipating upcoming needs and coordinating trades to prevent delays.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for homeowners, architects, designers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Maintain consistent, professional communication with clients and keep them informed throughout the construction process.
- Manage RFIs, selections, change orders, punch lists, and project documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure construction aligns with architectural plans, specifications, selections, and established quality standards.
- Identify potential scheduling, coordination, and construction issues early and take ownership of resolving them.
- Use JobTread and other technology to track schedules, budgets, photos, project notes, documentation, and communication.
- Maintain organized, thorough project records so that details, decisions, and follow-up items don't fall through the cracks.
- Keep jobsites clean, safe, organized, and professional throughout construction.
- Take ownership of the small details that make a difference in a luxury home, from coordinating finish hardware and checking final cleaning to addressing site cleanliness, supporting trades, and resolving last-minute issues.
- Occasionally oversee substantial renovation and remodeling projects.
- Travel between job sites throughout North and West/Southwest Houston as project needs require.
Ideal Candidate
- At least 5 years of experience in custom residential construction, with a strong preference for luxury custom homes.
- Proven ability to manage projects through the construction process, including scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality control, and final completion.
- Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, architectural plans, and finish details.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high standard for workmanship.
- Highly organized, with strong documentation, follow-through, and note-taking habits.
- Proactive and able to anticipate what needs to happen several steps ahead rather than simply reacting to issues as they arise.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with homeowners, architects, designers, and trades.
- Comfortable balancing project management responsibilities with a consistent, hands-on presence in the field.
- Technologically capable and comfortable using project management software, including JobTread or similar platforms.
- Accountable, coachable, and willing to follow established processes while contributing ideas for improvement.
- Takes ownership of both major construction milestones and the smaller details that contribute to a successful project.
- Willing to travel between job sites across North and West/Southwest Houston.
