Summary Imagine what you can do here. Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their lives best work. Together we create products and experiences people once couldn't have imagined, and now, can't imagine living without. It's the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do.
Description APPLE INC has the following available in San Diego, California. Work with the HW/SW development teams and other cross functional teams on identifying issues impacting the Cellular performance. Evaluate the latest unrelease Apple Products (iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch hardware) in the field, from early prototype to final products, on different network and wireless technologies, including performance metrics creation/evolution, post processing and analysis of device logs from the field. Perform end to end testing of cellular technologies that includes test plan preparation, field testing, log analysis & deep-dive analysis of logs to root cause the issues (HW & System). Test the device against various network Infrastructure (across different cellular technologies like GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE and 5G) and collect key performance metrics along with verifying that the device is functionally stable. Update test databases with the validation results and furnish periodic reports. Provide comprehensive analysis from the logs collected regarding the issues seen from testing using various tools. Identify the issue from protocol layer of the device like PHY/MAC/RLC/PDCP or from higher application layer and root cause it. Create tickets based on the issue found and provide logs and analysis to cross functional teams to get the bugs resolved in timely manner. Participate in design reviews and technical meetings to gather information for forthcoming validation activities and to provide key validation aspects. Drive issues to closure through close partnership with development teams. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $137,500 - $207,100/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
Experience and/or education must include:
Utilizing wireless communication knowledge to test Apple products’ performance in different cellular technologies including GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and 5G in field scenarios. Implementing Digital Signal Processing knowledge to design, develop, and validate test plans related to wireless features. Diagnosing and resolving issues related to protocol layers including PHY, PDCP, and MAC using device-side log analysis. Applying Python knowledge to develop scripts for efficient log analysis from field testing and root-cause real-world device issues to improve product performance. Identifying and isolating issues observed in field testing by leveraging wireless protocol and RF log analysis tools to drive root cause resolution Applying wireless communication skills to develop, test, and optimize cellular products and features which serve millions of users. Applied maximum likelihood, MAP estimation, channel estimation, and hypothesis testing techniques to characterize wireless channel behavior, assess signal quality degradation, identify anomalous channel conditions, and root-cause multipath fading and delay spread issues from field-captured device-side RF logs. Proficient in MATLAB and Python-based Machine Learning, with hands-on experience developing supervised learning models, regression pipelines, and anomaly detection algorithms. Applied stochastic process modeling, power spectral density analysis, autocorrelation techniques, and statistical channel models alongside SNR/BER statistical analysis to characterize noise, interference distributions, and signal impairments observed in wireless device field logs and drive link quality optimization recommendations.
