Anchor Fabrication Smithville is hiring an Inventory Control Specialist to keep our sheet metal plant's raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods records accurate and in step with what is physically on the floor. You will track sheets, plate, hardware, and purchased components from receipt through production and shipment, run cycle counts, and resolve discrepancies so production, purchasing, and shipping can rely on the numbers. This is a full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do
- Maintain accurate on-hand quantities, locations, and lot/heat numbers for sheet, coil, plate, hardware, and finished parts in the ERP/MRP system.
- Run daily cycle counts and lead the annual physical inventory; investigate variances and make adjustments with proper approval.
- Reconcile receipts against purchase orders and packing slips, and material issues against job travelers and bills of material.
- Track scrap, remnants, and offcuts, and record usage so material cost and yield stay accurate.
- Set and review reorder points and min/max levels with purchasing and production planning; flag shortages and excess or obsolete stock early.
- Organize storage areas, racks, and bin locations, and keep labeling and barcode or tag systems consistent.
- Produce inventory reports, such as valuation, turns, and aging, for management and finance, and support month-end close.
- Follow plant safety rules and PPE requirements, and operate a forklift or pallet jack when needed (training provided where needed).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1+ years of inventory control, materials, or warehouse experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system and strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables).
- Solid math skills and the ability to read job travelers, purchase orders, and basic part drawings.
- Careful, detail-oriented habits and the follow-through to chase down a discrepancy until it is resolved.
Preferred
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, stamping, laser or punch cutting, or similar metalworking.
- Familiarity with heat/lot traceability, material certifications, and ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.
- Experience with barcode scanning and cycle count programs.
- APICS/ASCM CPIM certification or an associate degree in supply chain or business.
- Current forklift certification.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
