Wieland is hiring a Slitting Operator. The Slitting Operator will be responsible for production of slitting operation to meet or exceed customer specifications at an acceptable productivity level. With safety at the forefront, this person will train for 8 weeks. After 8 weeks of training as a helper at either slitting line, the employee must complete High Risk Training to graduate to "A Rate" General Labor Pool and start to earn the bonus. This role is located in Reading, PA and will be fully on-site.
Pay & Growth Opportunities
- Start strong: 8 weeks of paid training on first shift at $23.33/hour
- Boost your pay: After training, enter the bonus pool, earning $4.00+ more per hour
- Shift options: 2nd shift 11:00 pm - 7:00 am (+$1.75/hr)

Responsibilities
Floater / General Labor Pool / General Helper Responsibilities:
- Comply with all safety regulations while in the plant.
- Comply with the Wieland Heyco Quality System and work instruction documents.
- Process metal through the slitting operation and run a slitting crew based on the schedule.
- To review the mill card prior to processing in order to understand the requirements of slitting material.
- To set up the assigned equipment and slit the material in accordance with the work instructions located at the equipment site.
- To complete all quality checks and to enter the required information onto the mill card and slitting evaluation form.
- To assist the general mill hand in maintaining a smooth flow of production.
- Complete all quality checks and to enter the required information onto the mill card.
- Comply with the Heyco Quality System at all times during processing.
- Keep the work area clean.
General Mill Hand/ General Labor Pool- Class C Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanically and mathematically inclined.
- Able to use the computer operations.
- Able to learn how to read a micrometer.
- Frequent standing, bending, stooping, gripping
- Frequent walking.
- Some lifting and carrying short distances (40 lbs)
- Manual dexterity needed to perform activities.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to perform computations.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally.
- Assist the operator process with the customer order to completion from the mill card specifications
Work Environment- Manufacturing Plant
License- Fork Lift License and Crane Certification
