The Materials Coordinator is the control point between receiving, plant operations, quality, and outbound movement at the Mauldin facility. The role protects employees and plant reliability by confirming that materials are identified, documented, segregated, and routed correctly before processing. It also protects service quality by maintaining accurate inventory and receiving records and by identifying discrepancies before they become production, compliance, or customer issues.
This is a hands-on plant position, not a desk-only coordination role. The employee works in active receiving, staging, sampling, testing, and processing areas and must combine careful documentation with sound field judgment, disciplined procedure use, and clear escalation.
Essential responsibilities
Material receiving, identification, and control
- Verify inbound non-hazardous waste against the available profile, inbound schedule, work order, bill of lading, scale ticket, container count, container type, labels, and other required shipment information before the material is released for normal processing.
- Count containers after staging, document results on the approved QA/QC receiving record, and coordinate with Receiving to reconcile shortages, overages, damaged containers, paperwork errors, or other discrepancies.
- Inspect containers and bulk loads for visible condition, leaks, damage, swelling, unusual heat, incorrect or missing labels, inconsistent appearance, or other signs that the shipment may not match its documentation.
- Use Digital Waste or the current approved operating system to locate material profiles, confirm handling requirements, identify the assigned compatibility category, and maintain accurate inventory and movement records.
- Apply the approved color-identification system and ensure material is staged and segregated in the correct area. Maintain separation of limited-compatibility or single-compatible waste streams as required by the site procedure.
- Coordinate safe material movement with forklift operators, heavy-equipment operators, Receiving, Scale House, and plant supervision. Prevent unapproved material from entering the processing sequence.
- Maintain accurate records for inbound waste, recyclables, sawdust, absorbents, solidification agents, and other materials used to support operations.
- Track outbound materials and confirm shipping documentation, quantities, destinations, and end-user requirements are complete and accurate within assigned responsibilities.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least two years of experience in industrial receiving, materials coordination, inventory control, waste operations, manufacturing quality, laboratory support, or a closely related environment.
- Ability to read and compare waste profiles, labels, bills of lading, scale tickets, inventory records, procedures, SDS information, and quality documentation.
- Basic math, measurement, and data-entry skills with careful attention to counts, units, profile numbers, dates, and test results.
- Working ability with Microsoft Office and electronic inventory, receiving, or waste-tracking systems.
- Ability to qualify for and safely operate a forklift or other assigned mobile equipment after VLS training and authorization.
- Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, weekends, and schedule changes based on facility needs.
