- Mate Our company works to deliver safe, dependable services to our customers and has been operating under the same management for nearly 20 years. While the towing industry is often dynamic, Norfolk Tug Company is a transportation organization that provides a reliable work environment for our employees with consistent time on, and time off the boat.
While our company has grown tremendously since the beginning, we still operate with the same ‘small-company’ family-feel. We’re looking for similar-minded, career-driven individuals with a strong work ethic and stable sea-legs who are comfortable working and living aboard our tugs for two-weeks at a time (followed by a similar time-off period).
An ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate strong leadership qualities, be eager to learn and have a career mentality. Since our Company prefers to grow from within, our Captains are promoted from our Mates. For those interested in additional learning opportunities, and upward mobility, we offer time in our own in-house Simulator designed specifically for our routes and services.
Norfolk Tug Company offers competitive day-rates and benefits, including healthcare, vision and dental; short and long-term disability; life insurance; and 401k-matching opportunities.
