As one of Detroit's longest-standing tuition-free public charter school systems, our first school opened its doors in 2000, and since then, we have provided quality education to thousands of students and their families. Our commitment to serving our students and families goes beyond academics and encompasses equipping them with the access, opportunity, and experience necessary to become not just university-ready, but also life-ready.

At University Prep Schools, we pride ourselves on being the first charter system in Detroit to make and keep the 90/90 promise, which ensures a minimum graduation rate of 90% and a college acceptance rate of 90%. Since our first graduating class in 2007, we have consistently surpassed this standard.

While our three districts, University Preparatory Academy (UPA), University Prep Science & Math (UPSM), and University Prep Art & Design (UPAD) may have unique features, all are held to the highest standards of student achievement and accountability. Our commitment to fostering a culture of post-secondary readiness drives us to push all our students to reach their academic potential.
