Elementary Reading & Math Tutor – 4th Grade | $24/Hour Tutor Doctor Michigan | Southfield, MI Pay: $24.00 per hour Job Type: Part-time, In-person Location: Southfield Library, Southfield, MI Schedule: Twice weekly Job Description Tutor Doctor Michigan is seeking a patient, dependable, and enthusiastic elementary tutor to provide individualized reading and math instruction to a fourth-grade student at Southfield Library. The student is social, enjoys music and art, and would benefit from a tutor who can make learning engaging while building academic skills, confidence, and independence. Experience supporting students with ADHD, IEPs, and learning challenges is preferred. Schedule & Availability * Monday and Wednesday after 6:00 p.m. * Alternatively, weekends after 11:00 a.m. * Two in-person tutoring sessions per week Responsibilities * Provide individualized fourth-grade reading and math instruction. * Strengthen reading comprehension, decoding, and foundational literacy skills. * Reinforce foundational math concepts and problem-solving strategies. * Adapt instruction to accommodate learning differences and individual needs. * Incorporate hands-on activities, manageable learning steps, and short breaks to maintain engagement. * Build confidence, focus, and independent learning skills. * Communicate student progress and areas needing improvement. Ideal Candidate * Experience tutoring or teaching elementary reading and math. * Familiarity with ADHD, IEP accommodations, or differentiated instruction preferred. * Patient, creative, encouraging, and adaptable teaching style. * Ability to engage students working below grade level. * Strong communication and organizational skills. * Reliable transportation to Southfield Library. * Consistent availability for twice-weekly sessions.
