The Financial Planning/Analysis job is responsible for designing and conducting financial analysis and modeling that translates business activity, including sales pipeline, flows, and asset trends, into enterprise financial outcomes. Through driver-based financial modeling, this job provides insight into the business's financial trajectory, including flows, asset growth and composition, revenue, operating expenses, and value returned to participants. Under limited supervision, this analysis is used by key business partners and senior finance leadership to inform strategy, resource allocation, and forecasting, often on an ad hoc basis in response to emerging business questions. This job also evaluates alternative scenarios and sensitivity assumptions, while also developing economic analysis and business reports that explain the "why" behind financial outcomes to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Builds and maintains financial models that identify key business drivers and explain variances between projected and actual results.
- Partners closely with business leaders to understand operational and strategic drivers of performance, translating business activity into financial projections and quantified outcomes.
- Evaluates alternative scenarios and assumptions to support decision-making, helping leadership understand the financial impact and tradeoffs of different strategic choices.
- Maintains and reforecasts financial models to reflect current business conditions and assumptions, ensuring outputs remain timely and accurate.
- Refines modeling methodology over time, incorporating new data, business feedback, and changing priorities to improve the accuracy and relevance of financial analysis.
- Designs ad hoc analyses and reports, often on short timelines, to address emerging business questions or leadership requests.
- Prepares and communicates financial reports, models, and presentations that clearly articulate the outcomes and impacts of key financial decisions to both finance and non-finance audiences.
