👤 REPORTS TO
Chief Financial Officer
Ready to make an impact? We’re looking for an experienced Corporate Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing aviation and aerospace services group. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can build, improve, and strengthen accounting processes - not simply maintain what already exists.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
- Oversee the general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, estimates, intercompany activity, and significant balance-sheet accounts
- Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex and unusual transactions
- Strengthen accounting processes supporting job costing, WIP, inventory, labor allocation, and project profitability
- Design, document, and implement scalable accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Partner with operations and finance leadership to improve financial information and visibility into job margins
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while establishing clear accountability and performance expectations
- Coordinate annual audits, external advisors, tax support, and other accounting-related reporting requirements
- Partner with the CFO on financial results, accounting risks, budgeting, forecasting, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives
Qualifications
WHAT YOU NEED
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field – required.
- Active CPA license in the State of Florida - required.
- Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting experience with meaningful leadership responsibility.
- MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) experience - required.
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting, U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and balance-sheet accounting.
- Experience managing monthly and year-end financial close processes.
- Experience leading and developing accounting personnel.
- Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
CERTIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE WE VALUE
- Public accounting experience, particularly Big Four, national, or strong regional firm experience
- Combination of public accounting and private-industry experience
- Private-equity-backed or growing middle-market company experience
- Experience with job costing, inventory, WIP, or project-based accounting
- Experience implementing or improving ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting processes
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT
- You are a builder who enjoys creating stronger processes, controls, and accounting infrastructure
- You can move comfortably between technical accounting, operational accounting, and leadership
- You take ownership of accounting issues and independently develop practical solutions
- You have experience developing an accounting team rather than simply managing an established department
- You are comfortable working in a growing middle-market environment with significant independence
Required Industry Experience
MRO experience is required. Candidates should have experience in a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul environment, preferably within aviation or aerospace. Experience with job costing, inventory, WIP, labor allocation, and project-based accounting is highly relevant to this role.
WHY THIS ROLE IS AWESOME
- High-impact leadership position reporting directly to the CFO
- Opportunity to build and strengthen the accounting function
- Meaningful involvement across a growing group of businesses
- Opportunity to implement processes, controls, and systems
- Ability to make a lasting impact on the organization’s financial infrastructure
