Construction Laborer
General construction worker, working in all phases of concrete, wood and steel construction. Needs to be willing to learn new methods. This position requires a can-do attitude with a driven, hardworking disposition that will ensure the project will be completed on schedule and on budget.
This position is what builds the Construction Division from the ground up. Your skills, attitude and work are what the customer and public sees of Tektoniks Corporation. With out you, the Construction Division could not exist.
- Report to work on time (5 minutes before work starts, to begin working on time).
- Must have positive attitude towards quality and speed of work, safety, supervisors, crewmembers and customers, company leadership/authority and all others on job site.
- Check in by quitting time for the next day’s work assignments.
- Report to and take directions from the Foreman and/or Superintendent.
- Wear PPE in accordance with governmental and company regulations.
- Must have basic knowledge of safety regulations.
- Attend regular safety meetings and be able to recognize and resolve safety hazards and
- violations.
- Must be able to climb stairs, reach overhead and lift heavy objects without risk of injury.
- Have personal transportation to and from work.
- Concrete footings and wall forming with reinforcing steel and stripping.
- Concrete slabs – grading, setting rails, laying and tying of reinforcement steel, pouring, raking, screeding, floating and finishing.
- Steel erection and steel sheeting.
- Wood Framing – sub-floors, walls, rafters, trusses, openings, stairs, windows and doors, and blocking.
- Measure, cut and nail accurately.
- Read and understand blueprints, specifications and instructions.
- Painting – preparation, masking, application.
- Finish Work – trim (door/window/base), door hanging, door hardware, accessories.
- The use of manual and power tools & equipment.
- Housekeeping and job site order.
- Effective forms of communication with respect to supervisors, subs etc.
- In addition to duties above…such other acts, responsibility, authority, or other things as are or may be necessary to fulfill the overall purpose of the job
