Position Summary:
We are seeking a Sr. Staff SoC Platform SW Engineer with deep expertise in Android, QNX, Linux, and hypervisor-based systems to lead the development, integration, and optimization of high-performance automotive computing platforms.
This role focuses on Android platform internals, hardware abstraction layers (HAL), power management, inter-processor communication (IPC), low-level device drivers, and multi-OS integration. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience debugging complex system-level issues spanning multiple operating systems running in virtualized environments.
You will be part of the Platform Software Engineering team at Stellantis, supporting high-performance computing platforms for ADAS, Digital Cockpit, Instrument Cluster, and Infotainment systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development and integration of Android, QNX, and Linux platforms on high-performance automotive SoCs.
- Drive Android platform integration, including Android boot sequence, HAL, native services, system services, and hardware-software interfaces.
- Develop and optimize SoC power management, including power modes, suspend/resume, wake-up sequences, and low-power state transitions.
- Design, integrate, and debug IPC stacks supporting communication between processors, virtual machines, and operating systems.
- Develop and debug low-level device drivers for hardware interfaces such as PCIe, SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, and shared memory.
- Integrate and optimize QNX Hypervisor and other virtualization technologies, including guest OS startup, resource allocation, and inter-VM communication.
- Lead investigation and resolution of complex field issues, showstoppers, and critical failures spanning Android, QNX, Linux, hypervisor, and underlying SoC hardware.
- Analyze and resolve system crashes, boot failures, power-state transition failures, IPC communication issues, and performance bottlenecks.
- Support integration and debugging of complex SoC subsystems, including audio, display, GPU, and associated device drivers across Android, QNX, and hypervisor environments.
- Collaborate with semiconductor partners, OS vendors, and cross-functional teams to drive root-cause analysis and platform stabilization.
- Provide technical leadership in system architecture, debugging, performance optimization, and production readiness.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in embedded software development, including automotive SoC platform software and OS integration.
- Deep hands-on expertise in Android platform internals, including Android HAL, boot process, native services, and system initialization.
- Strong experience with QNX, Embedded Linux, and hypervisor-based multi-OS environments.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, ARM-based SoC architectures, and low-level embedded programming.
- Hands-on experience with SoC power management, suspend/resume, wake-up sequences, and power-state transitions.
- Experience developing and debugging IPC mechanisms, shared memory communication, and inter-VM communication.
- Proven experience with BSP development, device drivers, and hardware-software integration.
- Demonstrated ability to debug complex system-level issues across multiple operating systems and virtualization layers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with Qualcomm automotive SoCs, particularly high-performance computing platforms for ADAS, Digital Cockpit, Instrument Cluster, and Infotainment.
- Deep understanding of Android architecture, including AOSP, Android HAL (AIDL/HIDL), Binder IPC, init, Zygote, and system services.
- Experience with QNX Hypervisor, Android guest VMs, VirtIO, shared memory, and inter-VM communication frameworks.
- Familiarity with SoC power management frameworks, DVFS, clock/power domains, and thermal management.
- Experience with IPC technologies such as QNX messaging, RPMsg, VirtIO, and shared memory transports.
- Knowledge of audio and display subsystems, including Android Audio HAL, Display HAL/graphics stack, hardware acceleration, and integration in virtualized environments.
- Experience with complex SoC device drivers, including GPU, display controllers, audio DSP, PCIe, DMA, and high-speed hardware interfaces.
- Experience debugging complex field issues involving multi-OS crashes, deadlocks, IPC failures, power transitions, and hardware interactions.
- Proficiency in Android debugging and profiling tools, including ADB, logcat, dumpsys, Perfetto, kernel traces, and crash dump analysis.
- Experience with automotive production software, system-level diagnostics, and platform performance optimization.
