Job Duties
- Move and position dry van trailers throughout warehouse and distribution yards.
- Operate yard tractors, spotter trucks, and trailer spotting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Transport trailers between local warehouse facilities in the Dayton area.
- Perform drop-and-hook trailer movements and trailer spotting activities.
- Back trailers into dock doors and maneuver equipment in tight yard environments.
- Ensure equipment inspections and safe operating procedures are followed.
- Communicate with warehouse and transportation teams regarding trailer movements.
- Maintain accurate records and follow all DOT and company safety requirements.
Driving Requirements
- Valid CDL-A license
- DOT Medical Card
- FMCSA Clearinghouse registered and clear MVR
- 1 year CDL experience (within the past 3 years)
- No more than 3 moving violations/at-fault accidents (within the past 3 years)
- No DUI, reckless driving, or serious violations (within the past 5 years)
- Previous Yard Hostler, Spotter, or Yard Jockey experience preferred.
- Strong backing and trailer maneuvering skills required.
- Ability to safely operate yard tractors and dry van trailers.
- Comfortable driving on public roads between local facilities.
- Distribution center or warehouse transportation experience preferred.
