Mechanical Support Technician (Midas) Location: Los Angeles, CA 90065 (First Shift) Compensation: $24-29/hr (Depending on experience)
About the Role SprintRay is redefining digital dentistry by offering the industry's only complete 3D printing solution, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology, advanced materials, clinical education, and dedicated customer support throughout the customer journey. The Mechanical Support Technician position is a hands-on production role within SprintRay’s Midas Team. As a member of this team, you will work directly on the Midas production line each day, developing a strong understanding of the equipment and its mechanical operations. You will serve as the first-shift point of contact for equipment troubleshooting, identifying and resolving mechanical issues to minimize downtime and keep production running efficiently. This is a production-focused role rather than a traditional maintenance technician position, designed for mechanically inclined individuals who are eager to learn how the equipment operates, take ownership of troubleshooting, and contribute to the success of SprintRay’s Midas Team.
Key Responsibilities
Core Production:
- Operate the Midas production line, including filling and packaging Midas capsules in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Prepare, organize, and stage raw materials to ensure efficient production runs.
- Accurately label and package finished products according to established quality standards.
- Complete all required production documentation accurately, thoroughly, and on time.
- Safely lift, transport, and handle materials to support daily production activities.
- Assist with product rework activities to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Adhere to all established safety policies, procedures, and workplace guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment to support efficient production operations.
Mechanical Support, troubleshooting and repair:
- Develop a thorough understanding of Midas equipment, including standard operating procedures and normal equipment performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment jams, misfeeds, and other production line interruptions during the first shift to minimize downtime.
- Independently perform routine mechanical adjustments and minor repairs, escalating more complex issues to the appropriate personnel as needed.
Preventative maintenance:
- Perform routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks according to established schedules and procedures.
- Proactively identify and report early signs of equipment wear, performance deviations, or potential mechanical issues to help prevent unplanned downtime.
Documentation and escalation:
- Accurately document equipment downtime, identified issues, and corrective actions taken to support troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing across the team.
- Follow established lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures when trained and authorized, and promptly escalate repairs beyond the scope of your training or authority to a supervisor or maintenance personnel.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in a production environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the scheduled shift.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. using proper handling techniques.
- Ability to reach, bend, and stoop as required to perform essential job duties.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency in the use of basic hand tools.
- Willingness to learn the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Midas machines, with a strong sense of ownership for equipment performance and reliability.
- Strong attention to detail with effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to consistently report to work for a 4:00 AM shift start and work mandatory overtime, including Saturdays, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical maintenance experience in any industry.
- Experience with preventive maintenance (PM) in a production environment.
- Mechanical engineering coursework or practical experience.
- Automotive or equipment repair experience.
- Hands-on mechanical aptitude through hobbies such as working on cars, motorcycles, bicycles, or machinery.
- Experience working in a production or laboratory environment.
Employment Type Full-time, onsite. First Shift, with overtime.
