The Mechanical Engineer III plays a pivotal role in advancing the design of components and subsystems within the Fueling Solutions organization, aligning with project goals and initiatives. In this position, you will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure that the mechanical and hydraulic designs meet all essential criteria, including performance, cost-efficiency, quality, manufacturability, and scalability. Leveraging both your deep understanding of engineering principles and practical industry experience, you will be instrumental in the development, testing, and deployment of solutions tailored to our customers' needs. This position offers a diverse work experience, combining computer-based tasks (such as 3D CAD modeling and creating design documentation) with tangible, hands-on activities (like building prototypes and conducting tests). While this hybrid role supports some degree of remote work, you must be prepared to report to the office with little notice. The ability to work remotely will vary with different project stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, validates and documents fundamental function of mechanical components and systems, hydraulic systems, integration of electro-mechanical systems, and packaging of electronic systems
- Utilizes Agile & Lean development methodologies, and effectively operates with a global mindset
- Analyzes stress, deflection, and fluid flow characteristics using engineering principles, calculations, and simulation tools
- Selects and specifies materials and processes for use in final products
- Incorporates a set-based design approach, and can clearly articulate requirement trade-offs
- Implements DFx principles, where x = Cost, Manufacturability, Assembly, etc.
- Exhibits project leadership and ability to manage schedules and expenses
- Interface with external suppliers and design partners to ensure adherence to schedule and quality of delivery
- Coordination with global resources throughout projects
- Constructs prototype and proof of concept models
- Limited travel including international may be an opportunity
