About Shepherd Electric Supply Since 1892, Shepherd Electric Supply has been the first call when complex, time-critical electrical challenges need to be solved, and reliability truly matters. We move materials accurately and on time, so contractors stay on schedule, projects stay on track, and customers never have to wonder if we will come through. Our success comes from people who take pride in doing things the right way - safely, accurately, and with care for teammates and customers alike. If you want to do work that matters at a company that notices, this is the place.
Why This Role Matters Inventory accuracy is the foundation of everything Shepherd promises to customers. When a job site runs out of material, every minute counts. If our counts are off, our people cannot confirm availability, our pickers waste time searching, and our customers lose confidence in us. The Inventory Representative is the person who makes sure what Eclipse says is on the shelf actually is. You are the reason our warehouse team can pick with confidence, our counter staff can quote with certainty, and our customers can place an order, knowing it will ship the same day. This role sits at the intersection of accuracy, trust, and execution - and that combination matters every single day.
How This Role Connects to Our Compass
We Keep Our Promises:
Inventory accuracy is a promise to every customer and every teammate who depends on the shelf being right. You own that promise. When a count is off, you find out why - you do not adjust the number and move on. Discrepancies are your signal, and resolution is your standard.
We Stay Hungry:
You do not just fix problems - you look for patterns. When a location keeps coming up short, you ask why. When a process creates unnecessary errors, you surface it. You bring curiosity to the work and push for the smarter approach.
We Grow Together:
You coordinate with receiving, picking, and counter staff so they can do their jobs with confidence. Your accuracy does not stop at your count sheet - it enables the whole team. When someone else is under pressure, you show up.
We Own It:
When something is wrong, you say so and you act. You do not pass discrepancies along or leave a problem for the next shift. Adjustments are documented before end of day, exceptions are escalated cleanly, and the warehouse manager should never have to check behind you.
We Go Above & Beyond:
You see the gap before it becomes a complaint. You notice when a bin label is worn, when a location pattern is drifting, when put-away practices are creating future errors. You do not wait for a formal improvement project - you raise it.
Key Outcomes Organized by what matters, not just what you do. Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counting

- Support physical inventory events by preparing counts, zones, and reconciliation records
Warehouse Floor & Equipment Standards
- Operate warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, scanner guns) safely and in compliance with training
- Maintain organized, labeled bin locations - if something is hard to find, that is a problem to fix
- Stage materials within designated areas and keep aisles clear and accessible
- Support the broader warehouse team during peak periods as directed by the Warehouse Manager
Continuous Improvement
- Surface recurring inventory problems - do not just fix them once, help us fix them permanently
- Recommend process improvements to the Warehouse Manager when you see a smarter way to work
- Cross-train on warehouse shipping office functions to increase team flexibility
What Success Looks Like After 90 days, you and your supervisor should both be able to point to these markers:
- Cycle counts are completed on schedule with documented results - no skipped counts
- Discrepancies are investigated and resolved, not just adjusted and moved on
- Eclipse reflects the physical reality of the shelf - count confidence is high
- Inbound receipts are verified accurately, and product is put away to the correct location
- The Warehouse Manager trusts that inventory data is accurate without having to check behind you
- You have surfaced at least one inventory process improvement in your first 90 days
