LICENSED ELECTRICIAN (INDUSTRIAL): CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO PROJECT + TRAVEL
Serve Electric | 7-12 Month Project in Cape Girardeau, MO | Travel to Job Sites About This Role This role is tied to a 7-12 month industrial project in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, about two hours south of St. Louis. When it wraps, you’ll move with us to other job sites, possibly anywhere in the U.S. since Serve Electric is licensed in 49 states. You’ll lead electrical work on industrial job sites: managing installations, directing crew members, upholding code and safety standards, and representing the Serve Electric standard on every project. An active Journeyman or Master Electrician license is required. Missouri licenses electricians at the local level, so a license from any Missouri city or county is accepted. We need properly licensed electricians on-site to stay compliant whenever inspectors come through. Industrial experience is strongly preferred for this role. While residential and commercial electrical experience can provide a foundation, it does not fully translate to the demands of this position. We are seeking electricians with proven industrial experience, specifically in troubleshooting, large conduit and wire pulls, motor controls, 480V systems, transformers, and working within industrial environments, who can contribute effectively from day one. What We Offer
- Competitive pay based on your experience and licensure, with a clear path upward
- Prevailing wage project pay: the Cape Girardeau project is a prevailing wage job, so you’ll earn a higher, project-specific rate for its duration
- Full benefits package: health, dental, vision, life insurance, STD/LTD, and HSA
- Per diem and lodging for travel assignments
- Company vehicle + gas card
- Paid time off
- 401(k) with matching
- Safety-first culture: safety equipment and uniforms provided
- Real growth paths: Foreman → Project Manager → Branch Manager. We promote from within and mean it.
- In-house apprenticeship program: help develop the next generation while advancing your own career
What You’ll Be Doing
- Directing and managing electrical work on industrial job sites
- Mentoring and training apprentices and newer electricians
- Inspecting installations to ensure quality and code compliance
- Upholding and enforcing job site safety standards (PPE, OSHA, NEC)
- Troubleshooting complex electrical issues from start to finish, often without complete schematics or full operator information
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, rough sketches, plans, drawings, and specifications
- Wiring 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
- Working with lighting, transformers, motor controls, and switchboards
- Measuring, threading, bending, and running EMT and rigid conduit (½" – 4")
- Sizing feeders and managing tooling requirements for each job
- Organizing and planning projects of varying scale
- Attending job site meetings and contributing to project coordination
- Conducting employee evaluations
- Communicating clearly with customers, managers, and the team
What You Need to Bring
- Active Journeyman or Master Electrician license issued by any Missouri city or county (required)
- Demonstrated hands-on industrial electrical experience (verifiable, not just listed as a skill)
- Ability to troubleshoot from start to finish without relying on schematics or complete customer information
- Proficiency with 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
- Working knowledge of motor controls, transformers, lighting, and switchboards
- Experience with feeder sizing requirements
- Ability to measure, thread, bend, and run EMT and rigid conduit up to 4"
- Strong working knowledge of NEC code
- Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, and rough sketches
- Comfortable working with minimal supervision and managing priorities across multiple tasks
- Capable of training and mentoring less experienced electricians
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ERP systems
- Willing and able to travel to job sites
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license
Nice to have:
- Experience running projects independently, large or small
- NFPA 70E / electrical safety compliance familiarity
